Tax season is officially upon us. It can be daunting but don’t let it drag you down. The Thurston Asset Building Coalition has teamed up with the AARP Tax-Aide Foundation to offer FREE tax prep services to low and moderate-income households
. You may be eligible to receive up to $6,000 or more in tax refunds by claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). See below for qualifiers.
There are six sites throughout Thurston County
staffed with volunteers trained by the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide Foundation and certified by the IRS to help low and moderate-income households tackle their tax returns. Volunteers will ask you the needed questions to find out if you qualify for the EITC and other refundable tax credits like the Child Tax Credit. Volunteers will also prepare and e-file (electronically file) your tax return at no cost to you. The program welcomes taxpayers of all ages and backgrounds. Tax preparation is on a first come, first served basis.
