Beer Simmered Bolognese Sauce

Beer Simmered Bolognese Sauce Recipe - OBee Credit Union in Olympia Wa


  • 2 lbs lean ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1 large onion
  • 3-4 cloves crushed garlic
  • 3 tablespoons Italian seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 12 ounce can tomato paste
  • 2 cups chopped mushrooms
  • 1 bottle Olympia Beer (12 oz)
  • 28 ounce can S&W crushed tomatoes
  • 1 small can chopped black olives
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • Salt and Pepper to taste


  1. Brown hamburger in 2 tablespoons olive oil on medium to high heat, adding onion and garlic halfway thru cooking.
  2. Stir in 2 tablespoons of Italian seasoning, oregano, onion powder and cook for two minutes.
  3. Mix in tomato paste, then add beer and continue to cook another three to four minutes.
  4. Pour in crushed tomatoes, mushrooms, olives, sugar and balsamic.
  5. Reduce heat and simmer for thirty minutes.
  6. Add extra tablespoon of Italian seasoning and olive oil and stir.
  7. Serve over cooked pasta noodles of your choice.
