Thanking Our Military Families
All of us here at O Bee would like to take a moment to thank our military community and their families. We know it is difficult to uproot your lives and move far away from your hometowns. We have made it our mission here at O Bee to offer a little piece of that hometown feel in every one of our branches so that no matter which branch you use, you will always be met with smiling faces and real people to talk to.
As a military spouse myself, I have relocated and have had to switch financial institutions so many times it makes my head spin. Just the thought of having to re-setup all of my automatic payments and utilities gave me anxiety. It took me years to hone my “system” for managing my accounts in the moving process and to find the right bank for me in every new city (or country) I found myself living in. You know that old saying “I wish I knew then, what I know now?” Well, I wish I knew then about some of the ways to make those transitions so much easier.
For instance, I didn’t know that I actually didn’t need to change my account every time I moved! If I had known about Shared Branching I would have been able to keep my original accounts back home. I could have just gone into another participating Credit Union in my new city and made my deposits, my payments, and whatever other items came up on my to-do list directly into my account at my credit union back home. This is a service that O Bee Credit Union offers and there’s a vast network of participating credit unions throughout the U.S. It's a huge help.
Something else that made me crazy while I was moving was paperwork. It seemed there was always some document that needed to be notarized as I was now living in a new area. I would have to pay a fee to go into a bank and get it taken care of. It would have been nice to know that, as a courtesy, O Bee Credit Union offers free notary services to all of our members and non-members alike. No more waiting at JAG for someone to be available to avoid a fee at a bank!
So we welcome all of our military families who have found themselves transplanted to the beautiful Thurston County area. Please stop into any one of our branches and ask how you can take advantage of Shared Branching and do all your banking without moving your account. Or if you're thinking of putting down roots and buying a home, we can tell you about our VA financing options. Finally, drop in to use our free notary services, or come by to ask questions and say hi to our friendly staff. We look forward to hearing from you.
